Long ago, the world of Mysto was a peaceful place, with Soboria and their fellow light-blessed beings watching over it with care. However, their tranquility was shattered when Arcadia, a shadow-blessed force, emerged from the shadows to wreak havoc on the universe. In one swift attack, the world of Mysto was left in darkness, with only a few Soborians left alive.
For almost an eternity, Soboria has battled against Arcadia in a never-ending struggle, fighting to revive their world from the shadow's corrupting influence. Recently, Soboria has managed to take the fight to Arcadia's home world, allowing them to focus on restoring Mysto. Due to the heavy damage, the only remnants of civilization that could be restored was technology found around the Diesel-punk era.
In order to safeguard the world and restore civilization, Soboria has reincarnated some of the souls lost to the void into the general populace and the players of the world. However, this reincarnation comes at a price, as memories of their past life are vague and hard to recall. Upon being reincarnated, you are tasked with resorting civilization, a task you are not expected to take on alone. With this task in mind, many people have banded together to form cities, and even empires to form a community and establish order.
To ensure Mysto is a safe place, Soboria created the United Empires, a platform for empires to thrive together while mediating their differences. Soboria understands that it spread its forces too thin and has tasked all empires with being vigilant against any shadow or corruption they encounter.
The Myst, a powerful force, is the key to Soboria's protection of Mysto. The four primal elements - Air, Water, Earth, and Fire - And the Light imbue the Myst. The Myst creates the great world barrier, keeping Arcadia at bay and safeguarding the world. It also allows empires to protect their lands from any corrupted agents trying to sabotage their way of life.
Players that have dedicated themselves down the magical line can harness the power of the elements, infusing Prismarine shards with the respective elements to later use by casting spells. Due to the different magic types, Paladins broke off from the normal magic schools to focus only on using Light Magic.
The fate of Mysto lies in the hands of the players, who must work together to protect the world from the corrupting influence of Arcadia. With their memories vague and scattered, the players must navigate a world where not everyone has the same idea of how civilization should go.
Should the world fall into darkness, Soboria has created a multiverse of worlds to re-create the world into to attempt to rebuild again. It is unknown by everyone how many times this has occurred already.

- The goal here is to make clear why players' empires can vary significantly from each other, without necessitating distinct storylines to justify every play style. - Short answer, no. You can only recall vague feelings or short images. We do not want events from past maps to influence the current map, as some other players may have changed their characters to behave differently.
- You can use the vague feelings to not trust someone however. EG If someone you worked with stabbed you in the back last map, you can say you feel that they are untrustworthy and not work with them again, but you cannot cite the event that occurred.
